Finding Eurydice One Shot Open Table Play Report Mythic Bastionland The Fanged Knight Myths The Tree - SW Region The Elephant - SE Region The Lion - NW Island The Demon - NE Island The Rock - radiant *I have altered the Wilderness Roll to be: 1-2: radiant myth, 3-4: myth from corresponding island. Prologue Only one player showed up for today's game. So this marks the second time running a 1-on-1 game of Mythic Bastionland. I let the Leaf Knight tag along, so that if combat occurred the odds were slightly more favourable to the Company. The Company had entered a new realm during the previous session. The goal was to find the woman (the seer) and then pretty much improvise from that point onwards. The previous session ended at Bolwane and I asked the player if we could start there for this session, since this realm was unfamiliar territory. Bolewane - 001.004 This realm has a huge tree in the sky and this justifiably seemed odd to the Fanged Knight, so he asked around in Bolewane. Ma...

The Watcher Wakes One Shot  Session 1 Play Report Mythic Bastionland The Riddle Knight The Emerald Knight Myths The Toad - NW Island The Boar - Centre Island The Troll - NE Island The Plague - SW Island The Pool - radiant *I have altered the Wilderness Roll to be: 1-2: radiant myth, 3-4: myth from corresponding island. Prologue Two friends were willing to subject themselves to my mythical nonsense, so we set up a one-shot. By the end the players were keen to come back to these knights, so I guess a campaign is born.  The table decided to start at "the big castle". Then the Riddle Knight player, who has been reading Tolkien recently, decided that there was something under the volcano and that should be the focus of the session. What's under the mountain? A witch and the fountain of youth were both proposed by the table. I wasn't familiar with the Coven myth, but it felt fitting. A brief read was in order. Running it normally might not work, but cutting it up for parts ...

Woland - A Collaborative Mythic Realm - Part 2

This is part of an ongoing project that you can read about  here . Part II - Peter's Lowlands Brian of Luck Roll fame and fellow co-host of the Smiling Fox podcast is the second contributor to this project. When I was starting up I needed a victim someone to help proofread and who I could bounce a few ideas off. Brian offered to help out, for which I am hugely grateful, but it's therefore fitting that he was ushered to the front of the line of collaborators. Hex-flower In his blogpost  you can read how he applied an interesting method of generating ideas for the hexes and ended up with a very dense hex-flower that fits the strange and adventurous nature of Mythic Bastionland. The area is also just begging for referees to add NPCs that have been affected by the Soul-Splitting hazard, a narrative prelude to the knights' possible fate. Progress Map With the second hex-flower done, here's the realm map so far. Would you like to participate? Let me know  here . ---

Woland - A Collaborative Mythic Realm - Part 1

Part I This is part of an ongoing project that you can read about here . -=-=- There are conveniently 20 hex-flowers so participants may roll a d20 to determine which hex-flower they are allowed to fill in. I rolled a 17 so this is my hex-flower: The realm has 6 holdings, which might make it a little cramped, so let's make this holding essentially a non-player. There should be some potential to be a threat at some later point, but for now the holding isn't muddling in anyone's business. The picture above depicts the holding in a specific hex that needn't be the actual location of the holding, but unless some reason pops up, it will stay there, since that hex is fitting. Holding (first thoughts) The denizens should have little need for outside contact. Which raises the question of what does a holding look like that has almost zero trade. Zombies and ghosts come to mind, but that just might be a vibe for a different project. There might be some inspiration in the stories ...
